Why should I install Pour a Floor?

Pour a Floor is a two-component product that when mixed together  forms a 100% solids epoxy floor sealer, which is more durable, glossy and longer
lasting than a water based or solvent based epoxy. Our easy EZ mix system offers  our customers the most user friendly epoxy system on the market today. Pour a
Floor is chemically resistant, easy to maintain, and an extremely durable  coating for any application!

How do I install Pour a Floor?

We are very happy  to offer our customers what we call a "EZ mix system". What this means is there is  no measuring of the ratio for your part A and part B. Simply pour part B into  the part A and pour the entire contents onto the floor right away.

Should I use a squeegee or roller to apply Pour a Floor?

You can use both, but it is not necessary.  Just pour small amounts on the floor and roll it out.   To cover large areas, first squeegee out the area you are working on, then follow by rolling the epoxy coating into the concrete.

How should I apply the Fleck?

There are a couple different ways, first it is highly recommended  too wear spike shoes during the application of the epoxy and the Fleck. The  shoes allow you to walk on the wet epoxy during the fleck application. You can  broadcast by hand or use a hand held seed spreader for a more even  broadcast.

Why does the floor need to be prepared for the Pour a Floor Epoxy?

Floor preparation is crucial to the proper installation of Pour a Floor. The Pour a Floor epoxy  coating will not be able to penetrate and bond to concrete in areas where oil or fluid contamination has occurred. A spauld or worn floor may have loose mortar and/or an insufficient profile to assure proper epoxy bonding. The use  of muriatic acid will remove many of the contaminants and also provide a profile to the concrete floor.

Can I put Pour a Floor epoxy over pre-existing  coatings?

Pour a Floor is not recommended for application over existing  coatings because the existing coating will inhibit bonding of the Pour a Floor epoxy coating to the concrete floor. Floors that have existing coatings should  be stripped, etched or shot blasted to remove as much of the coating as  possible. In cases where the coating cannot be removed, a sanding of the floor can provide a "profile" for the Pour a Floor to adhere to.

Does Pour a Floor have to be flecked?

No, adding fleck will help to provide a non-slip surface to the coating. Pour a Floor forms an extremely hard and smooth surface that can become slippery when wet Fleck  provides extra protection for your new garage floor.

Will Pour a Floor scratch?

Yes, Pour a Floor can be scratched if heavy objects are dragged across its surface, however, under normal conditions Pour a Floor should not scratch.

What will sunlight do to Pour a Floor?

Ultraviolet  radiation (a component of sunlight) will cause most coatings and to blush or fade. Pour a Floor however, contains an ultraviolet inhibitor that reduces the
damaging effects of sunlight to the finish.

What will hot tires do to Pour a Floor?

Tires heated from normal driving will not affect the Pour a  Floor finish. Pour a Floor can be affected by the deliberate spinning of tires on the surface.

What is the working time with Pour a Floor?

You will have around 30 minutes too work with the Pour a Floor once the A and B are mixed. In theory it should only take around 10-15 minutes to apply Pour a Floor per  kit

Do I really need to go through all this prep work?

Yes, the prep work  is crucial to the proper installation of Pour a Floor. Areas that are not properly prepared will having bonding issues which may cause the epoxy to lift  or peel. It is vital that your substrate have a rough, clean surface for the  Pour a Floor to adhere too. The prep work is the Most important part of the  entire application.

What if I have an existing coating?

You will want to remove as much of the coating as possible, we offer a product called “Strip” that should take off any existing  coatings.
